For Attendees

Q: What is Crafty Bastards?

A: Crafty Bastards is a juried exhibition and sale of handmade goods from independent artists that originated in 2003 by the Washington City Paper. The Nashville Scene brought the fair to Nashville in November of 2014, integrating a curated selection of beer and craft cocktails. So, all crafts on deck to shop for some unique, handcrafted items along with activities, entertainment and food truck fare! Witness your inner craft with the Nashville Scene’s FREE community event.

Q: Why are we doing it?

A: As Nashville’s premier alternative newsweekly, the Nashville Scene promotes underground art and strives to connect the voice and vision of independent artists with our readers. The festival creates an experience where consumers can discover unconventional, hard-to-find arts and crafts, meet the artists, and shop and support small businesses.

The festival also helps to support the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville in their mission to leverage and unite the unique resources of the arts and business communities to create a thriving, sustainable creative culture in Nashville.

Q: What kinds of crafts will I find?

A: You will find talented artists handpicked by a select jury for their DIY chops and singular vision. There’ll be surprises at every booth including unique home goods, clothing, punk-rock baby clothes, handcrafted jewelry, plush toys, DIY kits, screen-printing, original art, locally produced food, and much more.

Q: How much does it cost to attend?

A: Admission is FREE!

Q: What if there’s inclement weather?

A: The event will take place rain or shine. Please plan accordingly. In the case of severe weather, please listen for announcements from event staff and updates will also be shared on our social media accounts, @CraftyBastards.

Q: Can I bring my kids and pets?

A: Yes! This is a family friendly event. And in our minds, pets = family, we just ask that you keep pets on a leash.

Q: Will there be food and drink available?

A: Yes! We will have food trucks at the event! There will also be a cash bar offering seasonal craft cocktails, beer and wine. No outside food or beverage will be allowed inside the event.

Q: Is there parking available?

A: Yes! oneC1TY has a parking garage and multiple paid lots surrounding the event area. Visit our homepage for more parking details!

Q: Will there be any activities beyond shopping?

A: Yes!

For Vendors

Q: Am I eligible?

A: We require that all artwork sold at the fair be original, designed by, and made by the artist. The artist must be in attendance to sell their wares; artists that fail to appear in person may be ineligible for future participation. Please read the terms and conditions on the vendor application carefully to ensure you meet all criteria. Please see the Be a Vendor page for dates and deadlines

Q: How do I apply?

A: Vendor applications are accepted online. Join the email list at craftybastards.com to be notified when future applications are available. Please see the Be a Vendor page for dates and deadlines

Q: I missed the deadline! Will you add me to the waitlist?

A: No. The wait list is actually made up of vendors who applied prior to the deadline and have been scored through our jury. We hope you understand that is why we specify that no applications are accepted after the deadline for any of our events, because adding a vendor who has not applied and been through the jury process simply isn’t fair to all of the artists who have.

Q: Application & Booth Fees:

A: The application fee is $20. If accepted through the jury process, Crafty Bastards vendors pay a booth fee of $350 for a 10 x 10 space for a two day fair; tent, table, chairs, and electricity are available for additional charges. Please note that a tent is required (can bring your own or rent one from us). All fees are non-refundable. We require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) to be on file with us. Please use the following information:
FW Publishing
210 12th Avenue South, Suite 100
Nashville, TN 37203

Q: What is the tax info for out-of-state vendors for the Nashville, TN fairs?

A: Out of state vendors need to add 9.25% sales tax to their sales. This will cover state and local sales tax for goods.  They will also need to go to the Tennessee Taxpayer Access Point to file their sales tax return after the event.  They will have up to 20 days after the event date to do this.  Here is a video explaining the process.

Q: I’m having problems submitting my application. What should I do?

A: Make sure you allow pop-ups to complete the form. Make sure that your vendor statement does not exceed 100 words. If you’ve done that, completed all required fields, and are still having trouble, email info@craftybastards.com for assistance.

Q: What is the jurying process?

A: The jury selects vendors based on their artwork and look for high quality, handmade, unique items. We also check to make sure we do not have too many vendors with similar products. The competition for booths is steep, so don’t flub your application! While we’d love for everyone to participate, we are limited by space and want to ensure a high quality, unique event.

Q: If I’m not accepted, is there a wait list for vendors?

A: Yes. We pick a small number of applicants for our wait list. Applicants selected for the wait list will be notified via email of any booth space that may become available.

Q: Can I share a booth with another vendor?

A: Sure, but we ask that you provide contact info and submit images of anyone’s work who would be selling at the fair so they can go through the jury process and receive all fair-related communications and materials. Shared booths will each pay $125 each/day ($250 total each).

Q: Anything else you want to know?

A: Shoot us an email below.
